Mamoru Hosoda Retrospective
Mamoru Hosoda’s film, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, is a loose sequel to Yasutaka Tsutsui’s 1967 novel with the same title. After discovering she can leap through time, high school student Makoto Konno does what any teenager would do: she re-takes tests, fixes embarrassing situations, and sleeps in as late as she wants—never thinking that her time traveling could have a negative effect on the people around her. By the time she realizes the damage she’s done, she’ll have to race against time to set things right.
