Only about 100 patients with this condition have been described in the medical literature worldwide. These children are missing the AADC enzyme which is necessary for the production of important chemical messengers in the brain and nervous system. The film captures the miraculous journey of three children with the condition in Japan going through cutting-edge treatment: gene therapy.
