2018 | 106 min | with English Subtitles | Directed by Sho Miyake
Directed by the up-and-coming Sho Miyake, this film is an adaptation of the solitary author Sato Yasushi’s coming-of-age novel with the setting moved from Tokyo to Hakodate. Young talented actors including Tasuku Emoto, Shizuka Ishibashi and Shota Sometani deliver vivid performances. The first-person protagonist is a guy working at a bookstore in the Hakodate suburbs, and he enjoys nightly drinking escapades with his housemate Shizuo (Sometani), and his co-worker Sachiko (Ishibashi)—who he is sleeping with. One day, the protagonist finds out that Shizuo is interested in Sachiko and suggests that the two of them go camping together.
