Naoko Nobutomo was born in 1961 in Kure City, Hiroshima. After graduating from The University of Tokyo in 1984, she started her career in film production and went on to creating numerous documentary programs. Her personal documentary: Fortune in Disguise – My Cancer and Tokyo Tower won the Silver World Medal at the New York Festivals and the Galaxy Honors for Recommended Programs from the Japan Council for Better Radio and Television. Her other documentaries have explored controversial social themes such as the North Korean abduction of Japanese citizens, social withdrawal, early-onset dementia, Internet café refugees, the Akihabara “otaku” culture, and asexual males. This is Nobutomo’s first theatrical film.

1961年広島県呉市生まれ。1984年東京大学卒業後、1986年から映像制作に携わり、数多くのドキュメンタリー番組を手掛ける。「おっぱいと東京タワー〜私の乳がん日記」でニューヨークフェスティバル銀賞・ギャラクシー賞奨励賞を受賞。 他に、北朝鮮拉致問題・ひきこもり・若年認知症・ネットカフェ難民などの社会的なテーマから、アキバ系や草食男子などの生態という現代社会の一面を切り取ってきた。 本作「ぼけますから、よろしくお願いします」が劇場公開映画初監督作品。
