Danish Filmmaker Kaspar Astrup Schröder’s (The Invention of Dr. Nakamatsu) hit documentary RENT A FAMILY INC. is coming back to San Francisco by popular demand!

This documentary follows Ryuichi, a Japanese family man who operates a professional stand-in business called “I Want to Cheer You Up Ltd,”” that rents out fake relatives (i.e. spouses, parents, and friends) to customers who desperately need to cover up a secret. Ryuichi himself leads a double life by not telling his family about the business he is running. Will Ryuichi come clean to his family in order to cheer up his own family situation?

About Director:
Director Kaspar Astrup Schröder is self-taught visual artist and designer. His documentary City Surfers (2007) won Best Danish Film and Filmic Award at the D.A.F.F. Festival. The Invention of Dr.Nakamats (2009) was selected for IDFA’s MidLength Competition. My Playground (2010), exploring Parkour and Freerunning, was selected for the IDFA’s Reflecting Images, Panorama and DOC U! Competition.
